Teacher Spotlight - Amaya Valencia, Kindergarten | Schedule a Tour!

My name is Amaya Valencia, and I am a Kindergarten teacher here at Spectrum Elementary. I have been teaching for three years, and my favorite part of the job is helping young learners discover the joy of learning while building their self-confidence every single day.

There is nothing quite like watching a student's curiosity and excitement as they reach new milestones. One of my favorite moments this year has been witnessing those "aha" moments when something finally clicks - especially in reading. Seeing that spark of pride in their eyes reminds me of why I love what I do!

I believe that a strong connection between home and school is the key to a great Kindergarten experience. My best piece of advice for new Kindergarten parents is to encourage independence and celebrate the small successes along the way. Building confidence and solid routines at home makes a massive difference in your child’s growth and their overall experience at school!

When I’m not in the classroom, I’m usually getting lost in a good book or heading to the beach. I love the outdoors - whether I'm exploring new places or just relaxing in the sun. At home, I spend a lot of my time playing with my puppy, Pluto!
